Senators say they want safe banking for cannabis, but take no action

The Democrats blamed the Republicans and the Republicans blamed Senator Chuck Schumer.

Actions speak louder than words. Green Market Report took a trip to Washington, D.C., to ask senators why the SAFE Banking legislation for cannabis hasn’t gone to a vote.

They all seem to agree that they want the legislation in place, they can’t seem to figure out how to do it. And there’s a lot of finger pointing going around to that end. The Democrats blame the Republicans, while the Republicans blame Senator Chuck Schumer.

Executive Editor Debra Borchardt spoke with Sen. Elizabeth Warren, Dick Durbin, Thom Tillis, Eric Schmitt, and Jeff Merkley last week in the Senate building about the status of and outlook for SAFE Banking.
